OK. Rashad is up 6-0 in the competition and is still in control of choosing the fights. Team Rashad chooses Matt Mitrione to square off against Team Rashad’s Scott Junk, which only leaves Team Rashad’s Mike Wessel and Team Rampage’s Marcus Jones left to fight.
The coaches once again start going at it after the fight announcement and this exchange gets pretty heated. It’s a shame these guys are not going to fight right away.
Back at the house, Mitrione goes to Scott Junk and gives him a note saying Wessel of Team Rashad was scared to fight him (Junk). Wessel finds out and is infuriated. Rashad finds out about the note and talks to Mitrione, but it looks like it does no good. Mitrione continues to rub people the wrong way, especially Jon Madsen who doesn’t appreciate Mitrione drinking his OJ without asking. As Mitrione leaves the room Madsen says he wants to slap him in the face.
This opens up the crazy for Mitrione, who is starting to look more and more like a nutcase. The two get paired up during sparring and instead of going the 60% desired by the coaches, Mitrione dials it up to about 200%. The testosterone meter explodes and Mitrione calls out Madsen in a rage. He’s promptly whisked to the back by one of the coaches and Rashad chews on him pretty good.
At the house, a pool is being taken as to when “Matt the Rat” is going to snap a la Zak Jensen style. Wes Sims (who has made this season watchable IMO) dons his “ninja” gear and starts messing with Mitrione, who says “it’s not a good decision.”
Fight time: Mitrione starts off with some strikes that drop Junk. Scott gets to his feet and throws some shots only to get sent down to the mat again. Junk gets up again only to be set down with a right after Mitrione catches a kick attempt. It seems Junk spent a lot of time popping off the ground only to be sent down again. Junk attempts a takedown and fails. By this time, both fighters are winded. Both guys start throwing huge shots at the end of the round and Junk lands some. Mitrione survives the onslaught to make it to the bell.
Round 2 begins with Matt working his jab. Junk counters with a right. Junk starts to stalk Mitrione and scores a takedown. Junk starts working his ground and pound, but referee Josh Rosenthal stands both men up. Mitrione continues to do work, but keeps his hands down pretty much until the end of the fight. The fight goes to a decision and the judges score it a majority decision in favor of Matt Mitrione.
Result: Matt Mitrione wins by majority decision
This takes Team Rampage to 0-7 and he’s had enough. He lands a nice kick to a door, followed by some punches and what looks like a headbutt. Rampage=1. Door=0. He finally wins a fight.
Next will be the final matchup between Marcus Jones and Mike Wessel.
